Community Tasting Notes 4

December 30, 2011 - This was fished out of my cellar, decanted an hour.
A wine that I felt had more potential in being held onto longer than drinking. But I drank it and alas, willl never know how well it would have tasted. I really enjoy the elegance from Quinta da Leda, and the 99 was a superbe wine just hitting its stride about 2 years back. This however is very nice, yet aromatically restrained. On the palate, the wine was stuffy and still youthfully tannic.

I would approximate 5-7 years more age on this to start getting the whole picture.
    Excellent wine.

November 18, 2009 - Rich, explosive, pure and stoney. Floral and spicy. Still some structure remaining. No oak or excessive extraction in the way but clean and beautiful. Really excellent.

May 24, 2008 - Cherries and plumy on the nose. Smooth tannins, plums, sweet almost port-like in character fruit without the concentration. Comments at a blind tasting was that it smells and drinks like a new world wine, but yet still had the rustic character of an old world! A superb wild card if doing a blind tasting party!

December 21, 2007 - A great bottle... leather, red and blue fruits, scorched earth, cognac (but no heat), some wood, mushrooms... very complex very rustic/traditional nose. The palate delivers with medium body, great concentration, excellent balance, ample remaining structure and a lengthy finish. Wonderful stuff.
