May 5, 2019 - Double blind, courtesy of our hosts, who opened and decanted this off its sediment in the next room. Fairly deep color with jst the slightest bit of bricking. At first pass this seems old world- nice currant fruit with a bit of tobacco leaf, spice and a good dose of barnyardy funk. Riper fruit on the palate than you'd typically expect if this were Bordeaux, however, so one immediately thinks of "old school" Napa producers. Plum and leather, showing integration and balance on the palate. The table was divided by the brett showing here, with some finding it too much and others, myself included, finding enjoyment in it. 92-93 pts for me, though your score will depend upon your tolerance for that bit of barnyard that this shows. At peak.

January 27, 2019 - One of my daughter's birth year wines. Should have drunk it on her 21st vs. 25th. Clearly past it's peak. Sad for us.

December 25, 2018 - Too young? Too old? I'd say the latter. This bottle was wooden and not very interesting. Yes, you find all the cabernet features, but muted. Drink up. Vastly overrated at a $300/btl price point.

August 26, 2018 - Showing a bit more depth than the 1995 I opened at the same time. Grace and complexity.

August 5, 2018 - PNP. color more youthful than i expected. great fruit, structure has all integrated and not a rough edge to be found. this was clearly new world, but outshone latour '94 served alongside i thought, but not by much. great now, no perspective on future prospects.
