December 24, 2015 - Decanted for 30 min. before starting to drink. Never felt it started going downhill at any point over 2 hours consumed so wouldn't necessarily say this is drink ASAP, but strictly an average wine at this point. Enjoyable, but don't be saving this for a special meal...both '01 and, in particular, '04 noticeably better.

July 15, 2009 - Tight on opening, some dusty fruit, tannic though not rough. Decanted, and after 30 minutes or so was showing more floral red fruit, cocoa, dirt, and acetone. Bit of creme de cacao. I kept waiting for this to blossom more over a couple of hours, but it really seemed to stall. Eventually was giving strawberry bouquet, but it was more like unpicked and dried out on the vine and in the dirt - okay, but not really pure or elegant. Will reserve some for tomorrow to see if develops any further. 87-88.

May 16, 2009 - Popped and poured at Emilio's, served with mushroom ravioli in a parma sauce. Ton of red fruits, smoke and cinamon in the nose, the red fruits continued on the palate turning slightly tart and tanninc on the finish. Very tasty, more fruit than I expected, more new world than old world.

September 18, 2008 - Popped and poured. Quite closed when opened, offering little more than a vague floral aspect and that nail-polishy aspect typical in Nebbiolo. As it breathed, however, it put on a bit of weight and added some dry cherry and orange zest notes that were interesting. Moderately tannic but manageable on the front. Finishes a bit short. Overall, more restrained and muted then I expected for a wine from such a hot vintage. Pretty nicely balanced. I do not think, however, that there is a great wine waiting to reveal itself with age in here. There is a pretty good wine now. Paid $16 on closeout, which is nice QPR. 87.
