Community Tasting Notes 5

February 12, 2021 - CNY Day 1 dinner at P&A's. Screw-cap. 1 day of air in bottle. Tasted in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium + intensity, with aromas of green menthol herbs ?eucalyptus, blackcurrant, blackberry. Developed.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), soft meidum+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of blackcurrant, blackberry, green menthol. Medium finish.
Acceptable quality. Quite meh and ordinary. Does not evoke any feelings whatsoever. Not worth ageing.

September 13, 2019 - Typically big, bold and fruity. Not my usual preference but enjoyed on this occasion. Black fruit, oak, a fair grip and quite a long length. Perhaps a tad dry on the palate.

August 11, 2019 - Drunk across two days and it was more enjoyable on day two once the wine had balanced off and settled down a little. If i had any in my cellar i'd leave them a few years yet, but i wouldn't expect it to become TOO much more than it is currently. slightly heavy for my taste, while it had acidity, the weight of the fruit and oak were a little over bearing on both days. drank with Lamb on the second night and that was definitely the best time for it. OK, but i won't be looking for more.

May 16, 2019 - A glass (Pnp) at office gathering. After the 2014 Marquez de Riscal Riserva, this came across as less balanced and less integrated. Moderate notes of oak, dark fruit, eucalyptus but then on the mid palate suddenly elevated acidity kicking in. Perhaps a few more years in bottle will add a point or two. 87+

October 7, 2018 - I wonder if the 2015 exists? Job for another day perhaps. Anyway this is quite ok but falls just a little short of expectations. Young maybe but still has an early slot of sweet berry fruit ensuring it doesn’t alienate all drinkers. Sandy tannin is reasonably serious and suggests a few more years required before this wine looks its best. Just can’t get my head around it right now. A point for potential.
