October 12, 2021 - 93 Amarillo dorado intenso. Nariz apabullante de fruta cítrica, ceras, miel.... En boca es intenso, con muy buena acidez, limpio, y con un final muy largo. Tiene mucho volumen, pero ni rastro de dulzor. Excelente.

August 14, 2021 - Ripe, sweet, and succulent, with lemon drop, honey, and peach flavors competing with lime pith and white stone notes, this 2017 is a decidedly richer version of Bournais when compared to the 2018. The mid-palate is slightly cloying and sluggish, but it picks up some speed toward the final push and ends with a bit of dryness, helping to keep it from finishing too gummy. A little awkward overall, there is still a place for the 2017 as more of a dessert wine with stinky cheeses (or perhaps uber spicy Asian dishes).

The 2017 Bournais reminds me of a lesser Alsatian Riesling, with the sweetness seemingly unsure about how to mix with the mineral components. I prefer the keen and energetic 2018 Bournais, which comes across as a more complex and focused wine.

Drink the 2017 now. Serve cold at refrigerated temperature.

UPDATE: I followed this wine over a few days with Coravin pours and found it to exhibit some pineapple rind, lime, petrol, and unripe cantaloupe flavors that added a bit of interest and weren’t so sweet. The colder the better. This is still a distant second to the 2018.

June 26, 2021 - Pale straw, with a nose showing intense, sweet gooseberry and beeswax aromas. Richly flavorful, off-dry, long tart finish. Great food wine!

May 31, 2021 - Pale gold. Aromas of fig, hazelnut, honey, and sea air. Vibrant fruit on the palate with intense flavors of nectarine and dried apricots. Electric acids, full-bodied with great energy and drive. Long finish. 13% alcohol.
