    December 23, 2022 - PnD let air for 1hr.

    Yummy balanced structured complex.

September 30, 2022 - Last magnum served with grilled tomahawks and sauteed wild mushrooms and bleu cheese. Similar to previous TNs. Poured a bit cloudy into the large decanter and had an initial funky nose but everything dissipated and elevated in the next 45 minutes. Pronounced nose of ripe black figs, tobacco, olive and cured meat. Great depth and mouthfeel. Loads of saturated dark red fruits - black cherry and cassis. Probably in its drinking window now.

February 13, 2022 - Dear friends brought over a magnum. The cork had pushed out about a 1/4 inch so we were ready with a backup if this wine was a goner. The cork came out relatively easy and was not compromised but there was an initial stale, oxidized funk on the nose. We suspected this was only the dead air below the cork going through some pressure changes. The body of the wine was pretty sound on first sample. We decanted in a large pitcher and voilĂ , after 40 mins and some blood orange Negronis to bide the time, this was in fine form. Rich dk red fruits without seeming extracted or jammy. Moving into a bit of tertiaries with fig and mocha. Good complexity and medium plus finish. Paired well with grilled tomahawks, shallot jam, red-wine braised mushrooms and Roquefort.

January 15, 2022 - I was happy to see the significant price drop on this wine. I wish more wineries would have the guts to do this. At $60, forget it, but at 30, a winner. Rich and ripe but not over the top. The Cabernet Sauvignon shows itself first, but the other Bordeaux varieties give it some complexity. Mainly black fruits with some red fruits as well, medium to full bodied, drinking well now, but it should last too (A-).

March 12, 2021 - A year ago, Tinhorn sold The Creek (its flagship wine) for $55.

Three months ago, every vintage of The Creek was available for under $30. I don't know why. They've since sold out and there are no 750 mL bottles available from any vintage, so today I ended my membership. Tinhorn's Crush Club was my first club membership, my first venture into "expensive" wine (at the time, $50 for a bottle was outrageous to me), and The Creek was my first "dayum!" moment with wine.

It's a bittersweet moment, but what better solace than to enjoy what is arguably the best vintage of Tinhorn's best wine: their 2015 Creek. Ripe blackberry and clove coat your mouth. It smells rich and full, like I've walked into a million dollar cabin on Christmas Eve. There's nothing out of balance tonight. This is Michael Jordan pre-buzzer beater, when everyone in the stadium can already see him lifting the trophy. A Friday night, celebrate something big wine. One you want to share because everyone deserves to experience this.

Maybe it's my emotional connection that leads me to rate this so high. But isn't that what wine is? It's not just a juice geared for adults—it's a bridge to a moment, between friends, and a time to recognize the passion and hard work of all the people who contributed. This is a masterclass of B.C., Canadian, and new world wine. You sadly lost your way, Tinhorn, but it wasn't here.
