Community Tasting Notes 5

September 5, 2022 - Delightful cab franc with complexity. Smoke and leather aromas to die for; make you want to keep drinking. We note the raspberry flavor others here have mentioned. Also taste blackberries. Very dry but fairly light on tannins, with a never-ending finish. How I wish I had bought more than one bottle when I came across it on sale a few years ago.

March 13, 2022 - Classic sandalwood and raspberry on the nose, joined by smoke, riding leather, anise, vanilla and a bit of mocha on the very long and satisfying finish. Fully integrated tannins. This is more than just “approachable” and fully ready to drink, but will also hold its own and develop bottle sweetness over the next several years. (Far better than the Rafanelli Zin we first opened.) 13% alc. With grilled beef burgers. 03.13.22. Highly Recommended.

April 24, 2021 - Surprisingly dark fruited on the nose, with a mixture of plum and raspberry. Some herbal/tobacco notes as well. Medium tannin, but quite smooth/fuzzy. Nice body with some heft. Palate is more red fruit + jalapeno.

September 25, 2019 - Medium plus nose is nice, red plum, fresh herbs, bramble, black cherry, dirty rock. Palate does well with medium body, dried red fruits, light cedar, sage, light spice, tannins get sneaky, medium and dusty. Nice example of VA possibilities.

March 20, 2019 - PhD Week in Virginia; 3/16/2019-3/22/2019 (Virginia): Tasting pour. Good, but this was the one wine that I expected more. Dark fruits, cassis, plum, cherry, oak, full bodied.
