June 19, 2020 - Exactly what I like about Chablis

January 21, 2020 - Lunch at Les Amis (Les Amis, Shaw House, Singapore): By the half bottle at Les Amis, this was a very decent, food-friendly wine. There was a hint of ripeness in its plump white fruited nose, with tropical shades coming in at the sides, but these were underpinned by more classic Chablis aromas of chalk and just that hint of stony mineral. I should add that there was quite a bit of sulphur at first, but this blew off with time. The palate had a nice round ripeness in the attack, much like the nose suggested, with red apples lined with a burst of sweet, ripe lemons. It leaned up quite nicely on the midpalate though, with a spine of acidity and nice licks of spice and mineral leading into a mid-lengthed finish with a touch of salted butter to it. Nothing special, but a good, certainly well-crafted Chablis 1er Cru.

May 29, 2019 - Apple, citrus and wax notes most prominent. Bright core of acidity. Little in the way of oyster shell/mineral/ saline. Paired with white fish and purchased from a LWS out of town.

October 8, 2018 - Winebow / Vintage Burgundy Tasting (ella - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Ripe apple throughout with mineral notes coming through on its finish. Good length, good to enjoy now.

October 4, 2018 - VinoLaprisco Tasting (Restaurant De Karpendonkse Hoeve *, Eindhoven, Netherlands): Just delicious, displaying the tension between bright acidity and ripe fruit which is so typical for 2016 in (broadly speaking) Northwestern Europe, perfect weight and intensity, touch of salted butter, playful and long.

August 21, 2018 - This is not a profound Vaillons, but its charms are ravishing. The nose is already expressive and typical, pure and fresh, with ripe but zesty citrus fruit (lemon, orange), aromatic green herbs and smoky minerality, but the way it dances across the palate is absolutely breathtaking, with a mesmerising, silky, creamy, dreamy effortlessness, and then the ripe but bright acidity and the cool minerality which is hidden somewhere in its core, gently bring you back and prepare you for a long finish of crème patissière, shortcrust pastry and lemon juice. Drink at cellar temperature, not colder. Objectively speaking, I can’t score this wine higher than I do, but it makes my heart sing. Great QPR for € 17 wholesale (excl. VAT).
