June 23, 2021 - Blind tasting dinner. Rich and ripe, but not oxidative. Lots of vanilla and caramel, sweet baking spices, a whiff of pepper. The palate could benefit from a better tannic spine given how ripe it is.

March 22, 2021 - 96 - 97 - a great smooth Syrah for my tasting. This was my first Cayuse and it was worth the hype. Tasted the uniqueness/funkiness. Way better than D&R to my taste buds. Now that I've had, I can compare against the K Vintners wines much better. This had tastes of smoked meat and black olives. Got a lot smoother and fuller later in day 1 and for sure on day 2. Would def buy again. Will wait a couple years on the next bottle and I still have a bottle of the 2012 to compare against a much older bottle for this wine in order to determine how long to age in the future.

December 18, 2020 - Fine Wine Service Sweden tasting the portfolio (@six hotel): Syrah and a tiny bit of Viognier. Candied sugar, meat, olives, fresh arctic blueberries, mineral, lean and cool and I would wait quite a few years for this beauty to unravel. Really high class and highly recommended.

November 14, 2020 - This wine is so good. Drank as part of Bandon Dunes golf trip wine dinner - compared 6 bottles two nights in a row. This was the star of the show. Very little decanting (maybe 30 minutes) and immediately upon opening it had a nose of smoke, black fruit and wood. It never let up all the way through the long finish. Washington syrahs are amazing in how approachable they are at an early age. You get a more sugar and less earth than an aged Northern Rhone, but Cayuse is developing syrahs that have a character unto themselves.

October 8, 2020 - enormous meaty, smoky, taro and soy nuanced nose, drenches the palate with flavors of olive, mushroom, umami seasoning, blueberry, cherry, hot stones and spices, super complex, super unique, otherworldly, syrah tastes so good from this vineyard, another winner from Cayuse, pop and pour, decant or hold

August 18, 2020 - Fantastic. To me, the 2016 was a little better at this age, but, time will tell...

June 22, 2020 - Decanted ~2 hours. I can’t argue with Jeb Dunnuck. Upon opening, strong fragrance of smoked meat, forest floor and mushrooms. In the mouth, beautiful dark red & black fruit. More meat but with a savory taste. Delicious wine but didn’t have the finish Jeb describes. Maybe it needs more time.

April 5, 2019 - My wife and I had this at the 4/5/19 release party. It had rich, dense and powerful nose of floral, plum, blackberry, black raspberry, smoked meat, black olive, licorice and spice aromas. The palate was tight, dense and powerful with flavors of plum, blackberry, black raspberry, black olive, licorice, spice and minerals.
