November 25, 2021 - Purchased on release and this is my second bottle in the last two years and both times it's been a bit disappointing and simple. The aromas are subdued, but they are certainly turning to the mature side with softer, darker fruit and some fall leaves. Palate entry is soft, with light tannins and just slight acidity. The flavors are pretty muted, just with slight red berry notes and the slightest bit of fall leaves here too. Finish has more of the fall leaves and light gritty, seedy red berry tannins. Again, overall this is drinking pretty boringly and disappointing vs. expectations of what I thought this would be drinking at this age when I bought them on release. *shrug* Oh well. Not a good QPR at $40.

November 14, 2020 - reticent and a little austere upon opening, with dark earth, wet clay, slight amaro and cherry syrup notes; some dark exotic spices, wet and dried leaves, not at all floral or fruity for that matter; on the palate, good weight, concentrated with fairly ample rustic tannins although the angles have been smoothed out over time. In great shape now, probably could still improve over another 5 years and hold for a long time. Interestingly, not the match I thought it would be with the duck and reduction sauce at Manuela DTLA, but went surprisingly well with the heirloom tomato and dungeness crab salad! Go figure. I think the duck with the highly reduced sauce was super concentrated and sort of buried this somewhat burly, earthy Greves.

September 9, 2020 - Sweet red fruited nose, almost candied, married to a relatively simple plum-cherry palate. A nice wine, ready now and quite drinkable, but doesn't have the depth of other 1er CdB wines.

September 9, 2020 - Zoom tasting with the wine group - Burgundy (Zoom): Tasted blind. Light ruby, slight bricking; savory nose with some leafy greens, red fruited, elegant, complex; palate is light bodied, elegant red fruits, some spice, medium alcohol, medium acidity; finish is medium length. Lovely balanced wine. 90
Day 2: A bit simple, but still a lovely, classically made red burgundy. Enjoyable food wine. 89-90
