June 13, 2020 - drinking very well. strong cherry fruit, some earth, oak and leather. I know that this is very old for a Gamay, but it is quite good now.

March 8, 2012 - Significant tannin smooths out with air. Black cherry and boysenberry fruit with a nice undercurrent of minerals. The long, juicy finish picks up some spice. Body is on the lighter side, as is to be expected with Cru Beaujolais. An enjoyable wine that seems to have some upside and is even better with a full meal.

March 4, 2011 - Medium ruby; expressive nose red fruits; medium-bodied, mellow, rounded, beautifully balanced. Classy and elegant. This has opened up over the last year or two and there is now no hint of tannin. Fully mature and at its peak. Consistent notes. Estimated maturity: 2008-2013

June 14, 2008 - Medium Dark burgundy/ruby. Muted red fruit and violets. Medium bodied, high acid, juicy red fruit, dry finish.
Dry, acid, red fruit, blanced and sturdy for a beaujolis.

January 27, 2008 - Lovely deep ruby; nose closed at the moment; red fruits, mellow, rounded, beautifully balanced. Classy. At the moment restrained with a hard tannic underbelly, but I would expect this to open up over the next year or two, although drinking well now. Score is on the conservative side. I would expect this to be 89/90 once it hits its stride. Beaujolais at its best. Consistent notes. Estimated maturity: 2008-2012+

January 12, 2008 - With its strong acid core, I clearly opened this wine too early. That said, it's coming along nicely on the second day. It smells of sour cherry, cherry pits, and calcerous rock, along with a hint of pomegranate. Subtle notes of cranberry join the above in the mouth and its almost prickly, too — and indeed, it shows a spicy flair when paired with blue cheese, though it's also rocky and cool. Interestingly, this wine is almost bereft of tannins; it's well-defined structure comes entirely from acid.

July 5, 2007 - A $13 purchase. 2005 is a stellar year in Beaujolais. This was a darker red and clearer than the 1989 Janodet MaV. Medium bodied with notes of dark berries and some chocolate. Much more serious than your standard Beaujolais. Lively texture. Very nice Summer wine which we served slightly chilled. 88 points.

March 7, 2007 - i have very little experience with Beaujolais, having never had one I've particularly cared for, so take this note with a grain of salt. I picked this up to see if the 2005 vintage could change my mind. Aroma has floral notes as well as sweet black fruit which veers to over ripe plum, oak, mineral, perhaps a bit of smoke. Palate shows that same sweet black fruit with noticeable tannins. It's perhaps a bit simple. There's acid here, but it doesn't necessarily balance the tannins and extract. Finish is nice and begs for another sip. This has the acid, tannins, and extract to age. But the plummy note might make me a bit cautious. For the $13 I paid, I found this rather nice, and I would certainly buy it again. It was certainly the first Beaujolais that made me take notice.
