September 4, 2018 - Massive wine with rich, decadent fruit. Decanted for one hour and honestly should have done longer. Wine opened up with each sip over the ensuing hour. BlackBerry jam, Creme de cassis, spice box were all present with a dark purple almost black elixir. This was a majestic wine and one that I wish I had more of. Amazingly soft tannins and finish that lasted nearly a minute.

May 4, 2018 - Hommage a DryCab - Washington Wines release; 5/3/2018-5/5/2018 (Various spots in Walla Walla): This probably evolved the most of all of the Cali cabs that we had this night. Perhaps because it was opened at the table. Lots of black fruits (mostly plum). There's also this spice that I can't quite put my finger on but maybe like a tamarind? It really works well with the fruit and gives it a bit of interest.

November 2, 2017 - Sloan Vertical 2000-2013 (Zürich): Amazing vertical tasting of all Sloan vintages (2000 to 2013) in Zurich. Consistent high quality over the years. The star component are the tannins - smooth, sweet, melting, the right amount and intensity, not green – very good in almost all vintages. Of course, there is a lot of Napa (fruit) power but never too extracted and/or overripe - not one single wine felt overdone. Winner and wine of the night is the 2007 vintage. Behind the 2007, there are many strong vintages: 2001, 2002, 2004, 2010 and the 2013. A word or two on the tasting notes: informal setting, great night with dear friends, hence short tasting notes.

    Short tasting note: 2005 - 89
Good and intense dark Cab fruit, some herbal/spice aromas, complex. Some fellow tasters liked the freshness but in my opinion the tannins had a green/unripe touch (which can be mistaken for acidity & freshness). For me the weakest wine of the night - off bottle?

July 29, 2017 - A decadent rich showy wine featuring chocolate covered cherries, smooth velvety texture. Crowd pleaser that's an easy drinker with some real sophistication that goes well beyond simple candied fruits. In a wonderful place now, but seems like long was to go too. Beautiful stuff.
