Community Tasting Notes 6

April 11, 2020 - It was clearly going downhill, not how I remembered it years ago. Acidity still high and fruits were present but a little more muted than before. Still drank well and went very well with our dinner.

    Nose: was still quite perfume.

March 27, 2016 - Poured to a medium to dark red coloring; no orange on the rim; Initial profile was of cherry with hints of other red fruit and some dried herbs. Tannins have long left leaving a very smooth, mature, ready to drink burgundy. Unfortunately, my last bottle!!

June 26, 2015 - Popped and aired for half a day before consumption. Wine pours a light garnet color with medium legs and a ruby core. On the nose, the bouquet is concentrated with a generous extraction of crushed pepper, cherries, thyme, salted plums, cured meats and leather. What is remarkable here is the acidity, which powers not only through the nose, but on the palate as well. While the structure of the wine is well-defined and the tannins are well-integrated, the acidity is slightly abrasive - slightly so that it masks the nuanced notes of pepper, scorched stones, stewed cherries, anise and coffee. Nonetheless, the finish is rather long and the acidity mellows out in the end. Interesting and complex wine, but I would have liked to see more balance to warrant the designation.

November 9, 2013 - Ready to go Burgandy; Opened with a medium garnet coloring. The nose was redolent of cherries, with a flavor profile of dried red fruits, some mineral notes, a bit of earthiness and faded tannins. A wonderful drinking wine.

June 18, 2013 - Light translucent red with pinkish rim; red fruit, some stank; orangey profile, spicy, linear, hard; good not great.
