October 18, 2021 - Wine Workshop: White Label Giacosa and White Truffles (Locanda Verde): This was a funny wine for me. You could tell there was age and I appreciated the depth that that added, but then I also got higher alc here than on a lot of the other wines. Good structure. But a wine that I kindof wish had been poured earlier in the night so I could have sat with it and contemplated a bit more. It wasn't quite as singing as say the Gallina that we started with.

October 7, 2016 - NK 1978/1982 Barolo & Barbaresco Dinner (Dovetail Restaurant, NYC): [Double-decanted around 2pm.] Heavenly nose of roses and cherries. Structured and complex. Still some tannin. Fragrant and complex in the mouth, but a bit short. Still a terrific wine.

October 7, 2016 - More on the mineral, linear side, yet with a sense of suppleness that was a cool contrast to the tension and structure of the wine. Cherry fruit and dried rose petal more so than fresh roses. Structured, and less broad, but with grace and lovely balance. In a perfect world I would have loved a blend of a bit of the Vietti flesh and this wines more reserved grace. That said without the imaginary blend of both worlds, I liked this a lot, and this style is my preferred. Others at the table may and likely will disagree. At peak and with time in hand. 96

December 10, 2009 - Lovely, classic, mature barolo. Classic leather and tobacco nose. Beautiful red brick color - not orange on the edge. Subtle but still lively. Great length. Memorable!
