April 16, 2020 - decanted, extra purple; somewhat coarse woody nose; warm vintage ripeness, blackberry-driven tangy sour acids, commendable w/robust food but wouldn't seek out

lamb meatballs w/tomato sauce & sheep's milk feta, pearl couscous salad w/mint & radishes

September 10, 2018 - Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC 50th Anniversary Tour. 100% Montepulciano. Medium (+) ruby with a purple hue. The nose is clean, youthful, medium (+) to pronounced in intensity, with blackberry, ripe red cherry and sweet baking spice aromas due to 16 months of aging in Franch Oak barrels followed by mellowing in concrete vats. The palate is dry, fruit-forward, consistent with the nose, with medium acidity, medium (+) tannins and high (14%) alcohol. This wine is approachable upon release, fresh and juicy, yet the oak treatment provides structure, complexity and age worthiness. Drink now through 2028.
