October 14, 2023 - Really lovely, soft and oh-so-drinkable. Dry cherries and something akin to pumpkin pie spices on the nose, followed quickly by floral notes and nori. Velvety smooth mouthful with soft tannins and a nice backbone of acid to hold it together. A nice, long minerally finish that reveals a distinct Walla Walla character. Very enjoyable! Not sure that it will get much better but it should maintain its character for several years. Enjoy!
May 20, 2023 - Decanted 30 minutes... drinking beautifully... for a lighter varietal there is a lot of body
November 21, 2021 - Very pale cherry red, nose and palate jump out of the glass with big complexities, surprising for such a pale color wine, bright Montmorency cherries, candied fruits, subdued caramel, wood, an exciting sangiovese wine ,but nothing like an Italian Chianti and not a dinner wine (try with Thai food or spicy appetizers) served at cellar temp, 14.5% alc.
March 17, 2021 - Needs another year or two
September 5, 2020 - Spicy light in color
August 7, 2020 - very nice
July 11, 2020 - A bit better than the last bottle on day 1. Floral, spices, forest floor and red currants. It is a decant wine but not at the top of the K Vintners line. 90 points
April 24, 2020 - K Vintners & Sixto & Substance Tasting; 6/18/2019-4/26/2020 (Walla Walla Tasting Room): Day 1: Certainly not a traditional Sangiovese. Spice, red hots, floral and bright fruits. Too much heat for my liking. Loved the Motor City Kitty and the Boy but this is not to my liking. Might get better over a few days. 85 points
Day 2: This is why I do day 2 and 3!!! Transformation time. Floral, spice, earth, sour cherries and minerals. This is quite tasty. Not in the league of the Boy or Motor City but certainly a game changer on day 2. 90 points
Day 3: Again better than day 1. Mild funk, minerals, floral, spices and earth. A little burnt toast on the finish. 89 points
Recommendation: Don't buy this if you are seeking Chianti. I would not purchase again but at $20 it was worth a try but not full retail.
December 30, 2019 - Vinturied into decant,
An interesting take on a classic grape for sure.
My take, ruby red, almost Pino in color, very expressive nose, easy tannins make for a crowd pleaser.
The issues start with too much residual sugar and a bit too much ABV which makes a kind of syrupy mess.
While fun to drink, and it paired well with pasta, it was too ripe after dinner to enjoy on its on.
Drink now, with not much to gain on the belly.
June 18, 2019 - K Vintners & Sixto & Substance Tasting; 6/18/2019-4/26/2020 (Walla Walla Tasting Room): Solid offering. Pretty wine with floral, earth, red currants and subtle spice. Very smooth, medium plus finish. Drink now to 2024.
