May 26, 2021 - First taste. Honey, elderberries, burnt butterscotch. A tad saffron. BRB
Nothing much changed day 2 or 3. 90-91.
April 20, 2021 - By the glass at The Jones Family Project, Belgravia.
We always ask the same question when we have this wine is why aren’t we having this more?! Oranges and mandarin marmalade , textbook vin de Constance, round and supple, full of depth of flavour and lingers in your mouth . Superb 93
March 19, 2021 - On safari; 3/17/2021-3/19/2021 (Mombo Camp, Okavango Delta, Botswana): Yummy, long, and complex. Peach, orange, cantaloupe. First time enjoying this famous dessert wine, and it won me over.
February 6, 2021 - Second time with this wine and even better than the first. A ton of ripe apricot, peach, honey, and fresh flower leaves on the nose, along with a spice akin to smoked paprika. Palate a very expressive mix of apricot, orange, cinnamon, wild honey, kumquat. This is evolving into an absolutely gorgeous dessert wine. Very viscous on the tongue but not at all tiring to drink. Much more complex than last showing a couple of years ago, but maintaining the same dramatic flavor profile. Many years ahead of it and still on the ascent. Wow.
Score: 95-96. And probably a bit higher in a few years.
Relative to expectations: +++.
December 25, 2020 - Deep gold colour. Pronounced nose and palatte. Sweet, med acidity. Honey, apricot, orange, marmalade, melon. Light and fresh with a lovely looong finish.
October 20, 2020 - 90/100
July 4, 2020 - 67 PM tasting with Hans Astrom
Delicious; floral perfume, apricot and honey marmalade palate.
Drunk close to Climens 99 and both reminders of tragedy of sweet wines current fall from favour.
Hans noted landmark vintage with new cellars
April 16, 2020 - Medium golden appearance. Pronounced nose of honey, peach, honeysuckle, apricot. Fresh on the palate with excellent density and purity of fruit. Thick texture but not sickly. Long finish - outstanding
February 24, 2020 - Delicious, lovely dessert wine, good balance, some bottrytis, apricot fruit, good acidity, lower alc. Nice and elegant yet good concentration and lift. Hedonists Meet-up at the Red Lion.
January 18, 2020 - Orange marmalade and a bit of a crepe suzette feel on the nose and palate that so is the calling card of this wine at this young age along with a splash of honey. Young and energetic and only just getting its stride but a superb little number of a wine and real crowd pleaser from the days of Napoleon to now. 91-93 range
