February 18, 2024 - Decanted for 90 mins. This was drinking so well. A bit wild and feral, but immensely enjoyable. Descriptors overheard at the table were: savory; umami; tamari; black licorice; herbal notes; ferrous notes. Excellent acidity. Should drink well for at least a few more yrs (say, 4 or 5, maybe more).

September 18, 2021 - Very demanding wine. Earthy and meaty with a VA whiff followed by underripe black fruit and rusty iron on the nose. Dry tannins, elevated acidity, very long finish. Rustic and genuine, perfectly showing Faugeres terroir.

November 5, 2020 - Lots of fruit here, sweet, approachable, smoother and less local than usually; the rich vintage speaks. Very charming now, but if you are looking the the sense of the South, you must wait for it.

April 10, 2020 - Kind of tannin bomb, if there is such a thing. It envelops the mouth with dry, austere fruit. This could be a wine to put in the cellar and forget about for 10 years, after which it might mellow a bit. I found myself liking it intellectually, admiring it, but not really wanting to drink it. It could be I was coming off a streak of wines that were super-easy drinkers. Whits' comment offers a great description. And it would be better with heavier food - a cassoulet might be perfect. We had it with burgers.

Anyway, if I pick this one up again, I will try to forget I bought it for some years. Certainly, it could open up more with several hours of air. I'd even decant it next time.

February 26, 2020 - rustic, earthy wine, scents of dried cherry, herb and anise on the nose, wild and juicy, there are flavors of iron shavings, graphite, blackberry and coal on the palate, a savory red with a saline quality, had with bison chili, this is versatile with comfort foods, quite similar to Bandol in character
