December 13, 2023 - Brought this to a wine dinner at Phoenix Garden (Ngee Ann City). Theme of the Evening: Langton's Exceptional Cabernet Dinner. Wines were served two at a time for comparison and contrast.
Pale straw gold in colour. Has grace and charm, with light notes of prunes and unripe pineapples. As compared to the 2018 Cloudburst Chardonnay, this wine behaves like a delicate, shy lady who sashays her way effortlessly around the room, charming all at the dining table with her grace and charm.
July 30, 2023 - ****See previous notes
Some changes. A little more round and fruity. Absolutely delicious. Drink now or hold. Yum!
September 30, 2022 - It's been awhile and it was time to revisit. Same notes as last time but much more integrated. Absolutely delicious now.
Case worthy wine.
Smoking an Oscar Superfly
June 20, 2022 - Brought a bottle to Bedrock Origins (Oasia Resort Sentosa) for lunch with my family on our staycation.
Pale gold in colour with a burst of flavours on the nose and palate; white elder flowers followed by white stone fruits; fresh green apples, fresh minerals, pears, melons, good intensity, texture and structure.
A very good to great Chardonnay. Will keep the next bottle for the next special occasion.
September 27, 2021 - Essentially two years on since I first tried it. This time around it is more developed but more intense - for me, I now get a lot more oak flavours coming through and the fruit has dropped off a little. Maybe I have not stored my bottle perfectly, but it is definitely developing tertiary at this stage. Anyone else noticing less fruit since 2019? Still bloody delicious!
January 15, 2021 - Pale lime-green in color
Flinty, lemon zest, chalk, kumquat,
Bracing acidity (drink cold to reduce), long finish, lots of minerality. Intense flavors. Granny smith apples. Bone dry.
Wow, this wine has great bones. It will become more approachable in the years to come. Excellent wine. Easily mistaken for a premium Chablis. Go get some.
November 8, 2019 - This wine is very well made. The balance is perfect for those that don't like the textural sensation of a creamy malolactic chardonnay. The length is long and there is a good intensity and complexity of flavour. It would be rated outstanding, and it would be expected at $105.
The oak and lees ageing here is noticeable. Particularly on the nose. Toast, yeast bread and cedar are gentle but noticeable on the aromas. The palate is where this comes alive: honeycomb, toast, pear, green apple, green melon, guava, a touch of rock melon, and plenty of vibrant lemon and lime (but well integrated).
Enjoy now but can easily be cellared for further blending of flavours.
July 2, 2019 - Return to Aus; 6/23/2019-7/5/2019 (Adelaide, South Australia wine regions, Tassie, Yarra, etc.): Caveat that Chardonnay isn't my grape of choice. And this was definitely a Chard. It doesn't have malo but the flavors are quite intense and just felt a bit overdone for someone where this isn't their grape.
June 7, 2019 - Some mineral reduction to the aroma along with melon and fog fruits. It is full and textural, with a core of sweet orchard fruits and a light buttery feel. There's good definition and length is impressive. A very smart Aussie Chardy.
February 25, 2019 - light yellow gold, touch cloudy, clear, silvery hue
Nose: pear, green apple, tangerine, orange oil, grapefruit peel, green herbs, wax, minerals, touch oak
Pal: pear, green apple, tangerine, orange oil, grapefruit peel, green herbs, lime, wax, minerals, touch oak
Feel: medium, full, savory, acidic
Finish: medium
