January 27, 2023 - I really enjoyed this. I had it with my wine group along with a 2012 Farm Winery Big Game from Paso Robles and a 2016 Januik Champoux Cabernet Sauvignon from WA State. This was my favorite. It seemed the most complex out of the three.

December 22, 2022 - My third and last, purchased on releases from winery. Drank well with an hour of air. Dark, dense, black fruited, dark cherries, minerals, tobacco and dark chocolate. Chewy tannins, but plenty of fruit. Nicely done

October 10, 2022 - This is a dense dark wine with graphite, some tobacco embers, dark chocolate and earthiness. Needs a long decant. The 2015 isn't as readily approachable as other vintages but it is serious (tannic backbone) with many layers of flavor. I think this should age another 2-5 years to bring all these elements together and then look out!

May 8, 2021 - I have always sought out Napa cabs from well regarded winemakers personal projects in hopes of finding wine that potentially represent outstanding QPR. Jeff Ames is most known as the accomplished winemaker at Tor, and the property farmed by Tom Farella is the source for many expensive and highly scored Cabernets. It is my understanding that Jeff sources from the same small block each year.

This is the second of the 3 pack that I purchased from Jeff on release. It is a dense, dark, full bodied wine that still has a lot of alcohol and tannins on the palate and tastes of blackberries, cassis and cherry. It is still tightly wound, and I didn’t pick up much secondary flavors or aromas.

I was hoping that this would have evolved further at age five, but I think that I will hold off on investing in future vintages, despite the very reasonable $90 price, as Jeff typically has required a 3 pack purchase.

I have enjoyed Tom Farella’s own estate cab, which is more medium in weight and a great QPR at $65. I am cellaring a few Di Costanzo bottles, but most other wine from this vineyard go for north of $150

October 22, 2019 - This is a wine to hold off drinking at this point. Very structured, tannic, with a bit of alcohol on the back end. Dark fruit, tobacco, earth. Very different from Farella’s own 2015 cab which was open and expressive
