October 30, 2021 - Fine and focused aromas. Very elegant, very classy. Chewy red cherry fruit palate. Medium minus tannin. Man, this is excellent and a nice compliment to the generally more generous Asinone.

October 24, 2019 - Plum Market Luxury Tasting (Bad Hunter - Chicago IL): Walk around tasting. Ripe Sangiovese with impressive density, very sturdy middle forward, nearly rustic. Good potential, needs time.

October 24, 2019 - Plum Market Fall Luxury Tasting (Chicago, IL): Very dusty, with some high-toned volatility on the nose. The palate is much more settled; good red fruit and more of the dusty elements. Extremely tannic; needs a fair bit of age.

February 18, 2019 - 7 Days in Italy II; 2/17/2019-2/23/2019: Sandier soil, more marine origin. 1988-94 was the last Caggiole. Historically this was aged in chestnut. Not any longer. 100% Sangiovese. 6000b. More salted berry fruit. Caggiole is a geographic name. Distinctly different tone to the palate, more elegance, more red fruit focused palate. 16-18m in 600L barrels.
2015 was a super star vintage, easier to approach than the classically styled 2016 vintage - with Fabio (oenologist).

October 16, 2018 - This very special bottle was purchased during a visit to Poliziano (85€) and we were told that of the 6000 bottles produced in 2015, only 66 remained for sale at the winery. One visiting group apparently bought 1500 bottles! But on to the wine...100% sangiovese...no blend, unlike the other Vino Nobile bottlings here. I had full bottles of the 2015 Vino Nobile (91 pts from me), the 2015 Asinone (94 pts from me), and this one - another big step up. The label says 15% alcohol...unbelievable because the wine does not show it at all. No heat. Just voluptuous plush fruit, perfect balance, ultrafine tannins, nice freshening acids...a blanket of great wine across the palate. The wine is perfectly ripe, but not surmature.
Goes very well with food - Parma ham was a perfect match. Very long and gorgeous finish. This wine really is special. Will be nearly impossible to find, but if you see it don't hesitate! Will drink well for 25+ years.
