    December 10, 2020 - Not bad, but not great. A fine casual wine but lots of better options for the same price. I have enjoyed Kanonkop wines for years but this one just wasn't clicking the same way for me.

    October 25, 2019 - About as good as it gets for a $17 red blend. Dense blackberry fruit with cedar and cloves. Killer QPR.

    August 14, 2019 - It was a little tricky to get very specific fruit on this, it's more the general descriptor of dark fruit with some spicy oak that threatens to overwhelm but ultimately stays balanced. Perfectly nice to drink, although not necessarily standout except for a distinctly smokey character all the way through- I don't mean anything close to reduction, just a very light note. The tannins were a little grainy but not overdone. The finish had an unusual citrusy sweetness, I wonder if that might have been the Pinotage talking. Pretty good value, not mind-blowing but nothing to detract from the experience.

    June 22, 2019 - Taste Wines from Australia, S. Africa, & New Zealand (+2 shared bottles) (San Diego Wine Co.): 37% Pinotage, 36% C.S., 25% Merlot, & 2% C.F., yielding an ave of 7.0 tons/ha; “3-5 days on skins in open fermenters @ 28° C, cap punched manually every 2 hrs; Matured 12-14 mos in 2nd & 3rd fill, 225L FR Nevers barrels; 14.29% ABV, 3.1 g/L R.S., 5.5 g/L T.A., & 3.55 pH;

    N: PYRAZINES/funk atop red berries

    P: LM body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt (approaching threshold R.S.?) met by an astringent PUCKER which evolves into a LONG, VERY slightly puckerish finish with a discrete swtness to the few, dusty tannins. For those who RELISH acidity, poss for now & through '22. Otherwise, cellar through '20, but still likely need at LEAST to be *fond* of acidity. My EXC-/EXC, the higher for QPR (& the preceding 2 sentences). 91 pts Tim Atkin, and 88 ea WS & wine-pages.com . [This vendor's $13.99 pretty much puts it in the middle of wine-searcher's offerings.]

    Note: The winery feels that, with a slight chill, this can accompany seafood. Although I'D never have thought of it, considering the acidity, they probably have a pt! ;)
