November 23, 2023 - Prior bottle was only four months ago and my notes were broadly similar. Apple, white and yellow peach and lemon notes on the nose. Medium bodied with white apple and white peach upfront and especially as it warms, good expression. Mid-body adds some yellow peach notes as well as various tropical hints but not as complex or elegant as some of my earliest bottles. Acidity, citrus and other tart notes on the backside, but not as well in balance or as lively as my initial bottles. Overall, there's good fruit here, but not to the level of my bottles from 2020 and 2021. Same thing with the acidity. It was once vibrant and really helped define the fruit notes whereas today, it provides structure, but without nearly the level of contrast or liveliness. Shows its best now on the warmer side which allows the acidity to come into better balance. Should be able to hold this level a bit longer, but compared to my earlier bottles, to my tastes, is clearly past peak.

July 11, 2023 - Prior bottle was only a few weeks ago, but because that one was seemingly flawed, wanted to open another and confirm. As it turned out, the bottle from June 2023 was clearly flawed (based on my notes from tonight) and the wine was in-line with my prior bottle's showing from November 2022.

Mostly soft white apple with a bit of white peach on the nose and tropical hints behind. Nowhere near as aromatic as this wine once was, but nevertheless, still pleasant. Medium bodied with a flavor profile that generally followed the nose with white apple and white peach upfront and through the middle, adding some soft, background tropical notes as it opened up. Acidity and citrus notes on the backside in good balance with the mid-body fruit. Clearly, others are having better luck than I with this wine, with bottles showing more richness and complexity. My last few bottles (excluding the flawed one from June 2023) all showed nice fruit and balance, but not the vibrant and complex wine this was initially in 2020 and 2021. I will probably open my last bottle in Fall 2023.

June 25, 2023 - There's a lot to like here, with notes of Meyer lemon, peach, and quince commingling up front. Hints of minerality weave in, and ample acidity complements the roundness.

June 18, 2023 - Prior bottle was 9 months ago and this bottle had a cork issue and I think the wine was slightly flawed as a result; more advanced than it should've been. Given others recent notes, this seems highly likely. My notes may still be of some use for where the wine may be in a few years, bu it doesn't make sense to score this bottle.

Relatively soft on the nose, some peach notes along with tangerine and pear, but no floral this time. A fairly long way away from the intense aromatics this wine showed previously. Medium bodied with somewhat soft and very rounded fruit, a bit of white/yellow apple and touch of peach and some tropical hints behind. Not anywhere near as much definition as previously. Tart notes acidity provide some structure on the backside.

Given other's recent notes, this was clearly a failed cork/flawed bottle issue. But these notes do show me where this wine will be in a few years and why it should probably be drunk on the earlier side. Next bottle for me, July 2023.

April 13, 2023 - 12.5% ABV, spontaneous fermentation (no added yeast). Initial pour at cellar temp (55F) smells just like a young Sauternes (or Quarts de Chaume if we want to stay with Chenin). Smells like rich honeyed pears and peaches. Palate continues with ripe pineapple, pears, honey, ripe yellow peaches. Slightly viscous body with a medium acid cutting through nicely. Long finish. Not sure on the RS level, but I am detecting a hint of sweetness, must have been picked quite ripe. Really tasty, beautiful example of a Vouvray. It's like a mostly dry dessert wine with it's ripe honeyed flavors. After an hour or so some rocky (dare I say flinty?) minerality comes through. Such a beautiful, balanced wine.
