    December 24, 2023 - Color: deep ruby.

Nose: lots of ripe black fruit, especially plum but also blueberry. A bit of lavender, black pepper, and vanilla.

Palate: the best part is ripe plum and blueberry. Therest of the flavors detected from the nose are here as well. The tannins are still present but not distracting. Full bodied in the mouth. Long finish of ripe black fruit. Like a big bite of plum

But there are some problems. There is some unwelcome heat. Also a touch sweet. The acid backbone keeps it from being cloying, but it crossed my mind. Not very complex - definitely fruit forward.

I do not think this is over oaked. But it is over extracted. I prefer not to consider what manipulation may have taken place. The tasty fruit needed some balance. Alas, we are left with a wine that is a bit too sweet and is enjoyable enough for a glass for what it is.

Tough to score this one, but a 90 from me. If you want a fruit forward Cali cab, this will meet your needs.

December 11, 2023 - PnP, Clear, dark purple. This is decent juice considering the price point. Tannins resolved, decent depth, a bit hot but good finish. Nothing off, ok for everyday drinker. $30

September 26, 2023 - oak juice swill pure and simple. represents everything that is wrong with California cabernets. so much new oak here that it's anybody's guess what the underlying grape varietal is. the owners of this winery should be banned from making wine in the united states. undrinkable. sadly, the American consumer has no clue and has come to know these wines as being of high quality. nothing and i mean nothing could be further from the truth. if you have no idea what i am talking about then you have to ask someone to teach you about new oak and winemaking. it will be a revelation.

December 11, 2022 - Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet 2016 is garnet colored with slow legs. A nose of blackberry and black currant (cassis). It tastes like blackberry, red currant, light toast, sandalwood and black pepper. The body is full. The wine finishes medium. The wine has a higher acidity making it a bit tart.

December 23, 2021 - A complex assortment of black cherries, cassis, conifer, pencil lead, and dried herbs are wreathed in a tightly coiled, full-bodied frame. Dry yet juicy, with a chewy texture, spicy oak complexity, and fine-grained, tannic structure. Excellent with a decant but there's lots of potential going forward.
