    February 23, 2024 - Drink up

September 10, 2023 - One hour decant. Deep dark magenta color. Almond butter, cassis, lavender, bay leaf, and walnut brownie. Dry, brambly palate, with good acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.

This was not great, but it continued to improve over an hour of drinking. The structure is excellent, but it’s more herbal and nutty than I like. It’s more savory than sweet. Very little fruit.

February 18, 2023 - Coravined off a couple of glasses to watch the hockey game after a long work day. Initially tight, thin, red fruited, muted nose. Over 2 hours of air it fills out a good bit. Fruit turns to dark red and then straight to beautiful blackberry. Nose is quite floral loaded by then with violets and lanolin! Overall, the wine is still a bit out of balance with some astringency throughout and a heady bead of acidity on the backend. This one probably needs more time in bottle or with a decant. 'Repour' stopper into the half bottle for the night and I'll revisit this one with HMC at dinner tomorrow. Addendum to follow for the 2nd night. A very nice NV wine, and just under $100/bottle at Total Wine, locally.

Addendum: 24 hours later.....pulled out the Repour stopper to the usual 'pop' of the apparent vacuum that's been created. Nose muted for just a short time, the palate quickly returns to what it was last night. No changes, no aging. The win is neither tired nor oxidated. Still fresh and very good! This is my 3rd short term success with this product. So far it's really consistent in the results it produces. No change in the wine score for the 2nd night.

September 27, 2022 - Retail $170. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Whoa. And another. I met Tom Eddy a few months ago--he is the brother of a person I would like to think is a friend of mine. But that is not the reason I met with Tom. I mean come on, Tom freaking Eddy? Yeah, sign me up. We met at a fancy Houston eatery and tasted through his wines. Yowza. Whoa. And whatever expletive you would like to add. This 2015 Cb? Whoa. Nearly black in the glass with rich dark fruit aromas (blackberry, plum, raspberry), but there is so much more: dark pepper, anise, jalapeño. Yowza. The palate is even better (if possible) with all that fruit, plenty of tartness, and verve for miles. Whoa.
