August 20, 2022 - P.S. Royaltycoins comment about riding the line between “new Napa” and “ old world terroir style “ is spot on the money. Let’s just add this little addendum though….how about we call it new world Coombsville terroir style….?? which is fabulous. So glad pioneers like Farella planted there.

August 20, 2022 - One of the original Coombsville cabs. Decanted for one hour, and then began. Love Coombsville. Bluish fruits, mineral, superbly balanced, judicious use of oak….. which blended in seamlessly with the fruity mineralogy. Doesn’t get much better than this.

    February 19, 2020 - Deep ruby.

Nose: Mulled black cherry, cassis, fruitcake spice, bit of black potting soil and a vivid, deeply beautiful violet flower.

Mouth: Silky warmed fig, steeped black plum, and maraschino liqueur glide seamlessly ahead of a midpalate where threads of vanilla spice wind around a core of charred alderwood and loam. Finish has a huge echo of maraschino cherry if you hit it in the right place, taking on boozy notes of cherry concentrate that persist through the finish. Tannins are pure powder even now.

Overall: Exceedingly silky and still deep and dark, this rides the line beautifully between modern Napa and an old world/old terroir regional style. 5 years look good on it, the parts have started to meld together and everything is talking to each other. Should still have another 15+ years ahead of it. Drink now through 2032. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Tasted twice with consistent notes

    95.

December 31, 2019 - Really wanted to be impressed but after a decanting and drinking over several hours was not. Maybe shutdown?
