Community Tasting Notes 5

March 27, 2008 - Clear, light golden. Grass, slight hinied apricots nose. Medium bodied with thick rich honey, austere grassy finish, all on a knifes edge of acidity.
Dominated by herbacious and acidty. Well balanced and good integration.

February 13, 2008 - Wow. Get some if you can. Apricot pineapple litchi nose--wtih a curious spice and searing minerality that transmits through to the palate. Very fresh, with prominent acid on the finish. Absolutely delicious & paired beautifully with garlicky Meyer lemon-marinated shrimp linguini over arugula. I could found a religion based on this combination.

December 20, 2007 - Dinner at GlassHalfFull (Carrboro, NC): Popped and poured. This wine exhibited a light straw yellow color. On the nose, aromas of limes and white peach were joined by hints of wet stone, lemon oil and smoke. On the palate, citrus flavors were complemented by notes of stone fruit leading to a refined, mineral-filled finish. A nicely constructed wine that went well with the food. HS90

January 15, 2007 - Nicely full and rounded, with limes dominant on the palate. I'd buy another.

(Prager Grüner Veltliner Hinter Der Burg Federspiel) This is a federspeil masquerading as a Smaragd. Lovely aromas of white pepper, sweet greens and crushed stones. Also a slatey element on the nose akin to the Mosel. Wonderful powdery minerality on the palate with lovely richness and intense fruit. Long peppery finish.
