December 25, 2023 - This wine is drinking fabulously. I’m so pleased that the finely chiseled ripe fruit, uplifted by tangy acidity, continues to seamlessly carry this high alcohol wine. This wine will continue to improve over the next 2+ years. I have 3 bottles remaining out of a case I bought at a steal. A bigger wine than the Normale - but that’s a nice bottle too. A wine to seek out.

April 1, 2023 - Splash decant before serving- tart, almost ripe wild blackberries with "nutty" seeds and unique cedar and tar undertones. Had to go back to my previous notes as I did not recall this level of dark fruit and rustic earthiness. Mrs. 'Knurd confirmed, had to be the quick decant, and from recollection usually let this sit for at least an hour before jumping in. Insane transformation. No reason to move of the A (94) eval.

November 22, 2022 - En smule oxyderet desværre, men man var ikke i tvivl om, at det var en klasse barbera. Kræver åbning i 1-2 timer. Høj alkohol, mørk og relativ kraft på tanin. Spis mad til.

August 20, 2022 - Let this one aerate in the decanter for a good hour to crank up the already intense aromatics, but if I didn't have the bottle in front of me I would swear this was Nebbiolo with the cherry and anise notes coming out of the decanter. The palate is definitely all Barbera- red cherry and cranberry up front that transitions to black plum and prune notes on the finish, with the anise kicking in retro-nasally. The intensity of the aromatics cannot be understated, with multiple waves of stimuli on each sip. The abv is still driving the body and texture, with a rustic acidic edge and just a bit of tannin from the large oak cask aging (French oak according to the producer notes) that adds a bit of earthy complexity. I am fascinated at how this wine uses the alcohol to its advantage, something I think suits Barbera (e.g., Vietti), but this is on another level. Hiring professional mourners now that all Burlotto wines have been "discovered". A (94) evaluation factoring in value and aging, with 10 bottles left in the ol' cellar too!.

March 9, 2021 - We have consumed a lot of this wine over the past 2 years. It's a "go to " for pizza night. Very good tonight - better than the last few bottles, which were probably good, but were not enjoyed as much because we drank it too frequently (perhaps because it was an easy decision). I'll wait a few months before pulling another cork.
