February 14, 2010 - Excellent NZ pinot, with the exception of the alcohol level this could be mistaken for Burgundian village pinot from a top producer. Nose of cherries and forest floor. Very earthy and savoury. Palate was lovely and soft, with plenty of fruit, tannins superbly integrated now. The alcohol was only noticeable on first taste, perfectly fine with food. Drinking very well now and over the next year I would say.
February 14, 2009 - A beautiful yet powerful wine. Nose of strawberry's and those little white sheets you put in the laundry. The flavors were similar, but throw in some dark fruit and some blueberry as well. Long finish, well integrated tannins.
However, with all that said, this wine was definitely hot. My fiance couldn't get aroound the alcohol and didn't really like it. I was able to deal with it more. This one really depends on your sensitivity to alcohol.
January 4, 2009 - Lots of earth and minerality --old world in style
June 14, 2008 - Bought with a 2006 Dog Point Marlborough Pinot, and this was much better. Both wines had a pleasing earthiness and real NZ taste and nose, but this wine had a wonderful long earthy finish without the slightly sickly sweetness of the Dog Point. Should have bought more than one bottle, there doesn't seem to be any left at Berry Bros.
February 3, 2008 - This was so good last night, I just had to do it again. Our Superbowl dinner guest said that it had purity of fruit; I agree. It's clean and uncluttered and lively all the same. See our second Pinot of the night, the 2004 Lynmar Estate, for a not-bad-but-less-desirable counterexample.
February 2, 2008 - This is really a beautiful example of Kiwi Pinot noir. Graceful but not shy, with smoke and sweet fruit and a smooth tannic framework.
October 13, 2007 - Pinot nose of cherries and earth, with vibrant tannins and minerality. Great with food. Amazing value.
August 5, 2007 - Fantastic. Beautiful balance of fruits tannin. Long on the palate. Great!
