March 17, 2024 - We let the blind tested bottles sit in decanter for further development and slowly sipped on this entry level Colgin. The bottle has deep red to purple color. I remember how much of a cool blue and black fruited it was. So open knit, so pleasurable with good acidity, ripe tannins. Hints of crushed stones, vanilla oak, chocolate and herbs. Awesome wine.

    November 18, 2023 - Opened 11/18, finished 11/22.

My first of the allocation! Definitely had the Colgin bouquet out of the gate. On 11/22, the wine was as good, if not better, than on the first day. I did not drink any between 11/18 and 11/22. Dark fruits on 11/22 were prominent. The tannins had resolved on 11/22 as well. This is an excellent second wine, and is better than lots of wineries flagship releases! Ample years remaining.

September 9, 2023 - Still needs to shed some oak, but good acidity and body are evident.

September 4, 2023 - Let it stand opened for about 40 min and then double exacted for 30 min and start consuming 30 min later. So in total it was about 100 min of aeration…

This wine while still linear is drinking magnificent right now, dark notes, tons of sweet and approachable tannins, bright acidity and a dreamy finish.

I see the best days still ahead in about 2-4 years and stay at the top of its game for at least 10.

May 8, 2023 - Tasted along side the 2001 LLC, so that May color the notes. Really seemed overly ripe and simple.

December 23, 2022 - Tasted side by side with the 2018. More of a rounded palate compared to 18 but lacks the depth and length of the flagship wines.

October 22, 2021 - This ripe and saturated Cabernet blend has all of the swagger you expect from Colgin - ripe, extracted, unapolgetically high alcohol (15.2%) - along with an earthy, grainy, tannic undertone that makes you think this "cult" might have earned its followers. Garnet in color and full in body, the wine offers cool aromas of blueberry, pencil lead, and menthol (with the medicinal note predominating right now). The flavors are more buoyant, with notes of black cherry, boysenberry, coffee grinds, crushed rock, and ground rosemary, with a tannic and grainy finish that carries enough sweetness to make it go down easily. Decant at least two hours, but ideally wait another few years. 94-95 at the moment, this could be incredible in 2023 or later.

August 7, 2021 - Cherry and cassis nose. Full bodied and deep concentration with dark raspberry and cherry. Tannins already decently integrated. Drinking very well now

April 3, 2021 - Monster wine that needs ALOT of time. 8 hrs decant minimum at this stage.
24 hrs later it was even better.
