January 31, 2019 - Popped and poured over 90 mins. A dark, dusky and user-friendly version. Nice nose of herbs, oak, licorice, black cherry, plums. Medium-full on the palate, with somewhat soft acidity that some tasters might see as smooth or approachable but I find a drawback. Finishes with very light dusty tannins. This is for near-term consumption.

November 20, 2018 - Decanted one hour ahead. Medium ruby color with purple touches. Fragrant nose, with stones, black cherries, meatiness, and black pepper. Medium weight on the palate, with fruit flavors leading over earth notes. Acid balance is moderate to soft. Finishes with light grip and low tannins. The acid levels are a bit too low here for my taste in a Syrah. Previous vintages were firmer and more tightly wound. This one may not have much cellar life, but it’s pretty good now.
