March 9, 2023 - Very simple but pleasant BTG choice. I don’t get the reduction others have noted, perhaps because this came from an open bottle. This was primarily cherry fruit, a touch savory and a touch of funk.

October 6, 2022 - Far gone! Way passed it’s peak. Faint boiled fruit, burnt rubber. Little else.

  • colmanstephenson Does not like this wine:

March 6, 2021 - A: clear, glossy, merest hint of development, but basically red-pink
N: Twigs, Reduction at first. then that blows off. Meaty
P: Dry sticky tannins. Savoury, acid, but quite short.
=: plenty of stuffing but no seduction or elegance. Tasty but not particularly interesting. Perhaps give it another year or two, but I have no more.

April 8, 2020 - From the Boillot negociant side. Surprisingly big and meaty on the nose as opposed to say, elegant. I was a little thrown off by the aroma and was able to verify that the blend here is Santenay 1er cru, Chassagne Montrachet villages, and Volnay villages. Great pedigree and kudos to the winemaker for such accurate disclosures.

Yet I find this a little rustic right now based on the named origins and might have been happier without knowing. Light cherry color, the aforementioned nose has red-berried fruit, an almost smoky meat component, and light floral and stalky notes. Medium-bodied and gentle across the palate with soft integrated tannins and a mineral impression on the appreciably tart finish. Pleasant enough with a chicken and orzo dish tonight, and while I don't think this is a long runner maybe there's a chance it will settle into a more Villages-like groove and improve over the medium term as the components integrate a bit more, and I'm ok with any Bourgogne I can say that about.

February 16, 2020 - Solid, juicy, sweet red & dark fruit. Seems a wee bit toasted, but not overly so. A manly wine, generous for the genre. Probably better in 2-3 years, it has the stuffing to keep.
