June 14, 2022 - Fine showing just slightly weaker than the Bouchard, especially on the finish.
June 14, 2022 - Dinner with the wine group (Terun, Palo Alto): Deep golden, clean bead; vinous, with depth, requires a bit of concentration and focus; tart and rich at the same time, vibrant bubbles without being too much, superb depth; medium-long finish. Really outperforms its price point. Also seems lovely now and no reason to keep aging it, though it will certainly last. 92-93
January 16, 2022 - As usual with Marguet, give it a lot of air. Fresh fruit of wild strawberries and bruised apples, the zero dosage was only felt on the finish which thinned out a little. I think I prefer this bottling over their single vineyards as it is less bracing.
June 28, 2021 - Excellent - has big house texture and breed. Zero dosage but not at all screechy or high in acid. Surprised this was 50/50 Chard / PN given the appellation.
February 7, 2021 - Pale golden yellow. Lots of raspberry and wild strawberry pink grapefruit and exotic fruits. Medium bodied with fine elegant bubbles and nice mineral note and precise at the finish.
April 17, 2020 - 2013 Vintage is every bit as good as 2008. This wine is so delicious drank for 2 days an edit continued to improve.
March 24, 2020 - Truly quarantine now. Complex on the nose with aromas of black truffle, limestone, candied fruits (pear or lemon) and some hay.
Tasty and with a soul in the mouth. With length and a delicious aftertaste. Thin bubble. Surprising. Although it is certainly evolved, it can age a couple of years more without any problem. Biodynamic works.
Verdadera cuarentena.
December 27, 2019 - A beautiful champagne. The zero dosage, high acid, lemon and lime really sing through on the mid palate. If you are tasting this blind, as I was, the acid and citrus and minerality can take you by surprise. If you know it is a zero dosage champagne it is truly remarkable. From 2013 to a disgorgement date of October 2018, there is a lot of complexity here. A long finish, great mouse and pronounced flavours and aromas. It could definitely age further, but if you want a beautiful champagne to drink now, you will be very pleased with this one.
December 10, 2019 - Champagne Dinner at Rue Cler. Tasted alongside the Bouzy from the same vintage. An elegant, chardonnay-driven wine, with citrus and mineral notes. Medium-bodied with good length. Very nice, but the Bouzy was on another level.
March 27, 2019 - Champagne Trip- Day 3 (Gaston Chiquet, Pierre Paillard, Marguet, JC Mouzon) (Ay, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzenay, Champagne, France): Nose: The nose is perfumed and highly aromatic with apples, pears, kumquats, white florals, almonds, nectarines, peaches, toast, and vanilla bean notes. There is excellent depth wit a white fruited and feminine style to it.
Taste: The feel is Medium/full bodied with racy, high acidity. The feel is beautifully balanced and elegant with apples, kumquats, nectarines, peaches, white florals, toast, and vanilla bean notes.
Overall: This is a gorgeous, young champagne. It shows a lot of white fruits and florals at this time but there is plenty there for it to develop into more with a few years of age.
