Mjög ferskt þegar smakkað á víninu. Dökk ber, kirsuber. Svo kryddtónar, svartur pipar. Fínt vín. Kostar 15,9€ hjá Winfred. Þokkaleg kaup.

February 25, 2021 - Impressive Montsant wine, a blend of 85 percent Samsó (Carinyena) and 15 percent Garnatxa Negra (over 60 years old vines). The wine was aged for 17 months in new French oak barrels, followed by a further refinement of 24 months in bottle. Decanted: one hour prior to tasting. Appearance: very deep cherry-red with purple undertones. Nose: splendid bouquet displaying scents of sour cherry, leather, Mediterranean herbs and some fine vanilla notes. On the palate: an excellently balanced and powerful wine, plenty of concentrated red forest fruit, with a serious depth, silky textured tannins and a great acid structure. Finish: long satisfying aftertaste. An outstanding value. Drink it now and over the next three-four years.

May 6, 2019 - Priorat wine fair 2019 (and related events); 5/2/2019-5/9/2019 (Tarragona and various places in Priorat): What a difference from the unexciting Sycar to this nice Vinyes Velles. The colour of the two wines is very similar. On the nose countryside, stable. Mostly earthy tones. Elegant. When tasted it was a similar experience. Elegant, agreeable. Very balanced. Good wine. Price point of 17€. Not bad at all.
