    December 12, 2021 - New World Mourvedre
Nose: pepper, boysenberry, cocoa, with slight herbal notes
Taste: Light body with a peppery fruit on the first palate, moving over to plum with a dried dark fruit after taste. Fairly long with sub med acidity. California intensity of the fruit

July 16, 2021 - BYO at Jay’s on Third in Stone Harbor, NJ. Open in the bottle for about an hour and a half; would probably have benefitted from a decant. Nose is very deep and savory; licorice, pepper spice, woody notes, dusty herbs. Palate is equally savory with strong tannins on the inside of the gums, more licorice, violets, charred oak. Very little fruit to speak of, maybe barely ripe blackberry but fruit is definitely not the focus of this wine. Still, it’s quite good once it opens up. Wasn’t the best pairing with Asian spare ribs; maybe something more like simply-grilled steaks?

Update: after a night in the fridge the last two glasses are singing right now. So lifted and crunchy but still very savory and earthy. Give it air (or time)!

August 31, 2019 - High class wine. This was less earthy than my prior taste--great nose of violets and herbs. I couldn't quite place the aroma, but it was a very intriguing vegetative scent. Silky, seamless finessed wine on the palate. Long finish of ripe tannin and dark chocolate.

August 20, 2019 - This time, my go-to choice at Wally’s didn’t pan out. An off bottle, marred by brett in form of an animal-type funk that never blew off.
