June 30, 2023 - 15.2% abv. Served this at a backyard BBQ that we threw.
This was well-received by the group and was a good match with grilled Prime Top Sirloin and bratwurst, with corn-on-the-cob, wedge potatoes, and cole slaw. Ripe and rich, crowd-pleasing style that works very well in this setting.

November 18, 2022 - Rich, luxurious, ripe, decadent, blockbuster-styled, Napa-like Cabernet Sauvignon. Starts with a silky smooth mouthfeel on entry, with high-end french oak treatment obvious. On the mid-palate, gobs of ripe, sweet fruit bordering on jammy. Some tannin evident on the finish, but not at all intrusive at this point (previous note from 2.5 years ago mentioned "exceedingly tannic"). Balance is good - perhaps could use a touch more acidity.
Overall, I found this impressive, and enjoyable for a glass, but found it to be palate tiring - especially the sweetness seemed to become enhanced as it got more air. I guess this garnered some high scores from the critics - I'm not going to score it and certainly wouldn't give it the kind of score this style of Cab usually gets. For my money, the 2016 Lincourt La Cuesta Vineyard was much more a style in my wheelhouse for Santa Barbara County Cabernet.

April 1, 2020 - This wine is a dark garnet in the glass. On the nose, cherry and mocha. On the palate, the same cherry and mocha and just a hint of oak. The finish is lengthy but exceedingly tannic. This needs to be cellared for at least 3 more years and I suspect it may not peak for another 5-10. As an aside, Grassini's Sauvignon Blanc lineup is exceptional and those wines are all drinking wonderfully right now.
