January 24, 2022 - Engaging evolving rich but well integrated with smoke, notes of pepper over prevailing blue and red fruit. Drinking beautifully once opened up. Very responsive to decant Wish I had more.

January 9, 2022 - Still think this wine is fantastic. Decanted for 45 minutes. Fair amount of sediment. Nice ruby color. Great fruit on the nose and palate. Smooth tannins with a nice acidity. Had this with veal shanks (prepared similar to
osso bucco). Wonderful. And just sipped the last glass. Nice finish. I have one more, and I don’t think I’ll wait to long.

January 8, 2022 - PnP was tight. Fruit was overwhelmed by acid / tannin. Could have mistaken for pinot noir. After ~ 2 hour decant, fruit came forward in beautiful way. Well balanced.

November 23, 2021 - Consumed the day after a Beaucastel 2010, and what a difference between two wines from the same area! This one is transparent redberry colored, almost like a Pinot. The rim is slightly brownish, but the main impression is clear red. The nose is elegant (may I say so, the alcohol is 14,5%?) with clear notes of kirsch, warm earth, chocolate, and a tarry tone. In addition there is a "cool" tone - like menthe. Full bodied attack, sweet on the palate, lots of sweet cherry fruit combined with chocolate and pepper, very smooth tannins and a wonderful acidity it balance it all. Given the full punch this wine provides, it is also strangely elegant, even though the finish is a bit warm. The alcohol is nicely integrated, and the main impression is of a wine that is seamless and beautifully constructed. This is really a wine for eternity as it now - at 18 years of age - is strutting with healthy youth and vigor. If there is any objections, it may be a lack of the spice-tones that often follows Grenache based wines like this. However, a beauty! Drink now with some hearty game or lamb, or keep for God knows how long. The wine seems indestructible to me. Coming back to the Beaucastel, seven years younger, this is just another creature. This wine is an elegant cat, while the Beaucastel is more like a powerful dog (sorry for the inelegant comparison).

November 13, 2021 - High toned, good fruit, long. Has Burgundian elements to it. Seems well structured but slightly unbalanced at the moment. I’m very interested to see how this will age. This was the first of my 6 bottles.
