    September 30, 2023 - Dark ruby red
Prune, dark berries, almonds, leather and a herby flavour (mint)
To the taste medium dry, medium acidity and medium plus tannins. Taste ends on a dry fruity
    Taste short (+) to medium.
All in all very nice structure with some complexity. Needs some air.
Drank with iberico pork cheeks braised in sheery sauce. That went extremely well together.

October 27, 2020 - Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. A delicious blend of 70% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot after 18 mos. in French oak barriques. Deep ruby with a garnet rim. Clean, med (+) intensit aromas of black cherry, ripe red cherry, blackberry, currant, bell pepper, botanical herbs and forest floor. The palate is dry, with med (+) acidity, med (+) tannins and high alcohol (14.5%). Overall, this is a full-bodied wine with medium (+) flavor intensity and length. It is drinking well now but should continue to show well for many more years. This precursor to SuperTuscans is drinking beautifully, with the Bordeaux varieties adding complexity and rounding out the Sangiovese. Tasted again 9/28/21 with consistent results.

February 15, 2020 - Fresh fruit in the nose is joined by wet minerals on swirling. Red fruits dominate the palate with a constant lovely, smooth, silky mouth feel. Gentle acidity contributes to the wonderful balance in this very friendly Tuscan red. Thanks to the sangiovese/cabernet/merlot blend there's more than just red fruit, with black berry tones and earthy flavours mixing in. Towards the end the mineral touch makes a return appearance.
This carmignano docg clearly presents a smoother and more friendly version of a Tuscan sangiovese based blend than some of its central Italian compatriots.

October 1, 2019 - Texas Wine School - Italian Wine Scholar Class. This is a delicious blend of 70% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot. It spends at least 18 months in french oak barriques, followed by another 6 months in bottle before release. Deep ruby with a garnet rim. The nose is clean, medium (+) in intensity, with black cherry, ripe red cherry, blackberry, currant, aromatic herbs and forest floor. The palate is dry, with medium (+) acidity, medium tannins and high alcohol (14.5%). The alcohol is not hot on the palate, however, which is indicative of the impressive balance and structure of this wine. The palate is consistent with the nose, with notes of tart cherry and balsamic on the medium (+) finish. Overall, this is a full-bodied wine with medium (+) to pronounced flavor intensity. It is drinking well now but should continue to show well for several more years.
