March 25, 2024 - A brief flash of fruit upon opening but deteriorated quickly to become vegetal and merely tannic. Maybe it was just my bottle but I would drink ASAP. I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was a bad bottle, and not providing a score.
December 3, 2023 - Great value wine. Great tannins, dry,
And good fruit. Had with steak.
October 10, 2023 - First day-nicely balanced, but not flashy wine. Good fruit and clean mouthfeel. Went really well with our grilled swordfish meal and into the evening. Second day-over oxidized and barely drinkable even after the bottle was pumped down.
September 23, 2023 - Great color. The nose shows fragrant aromas of dark cherry, flowers, pipe tobacco, mint and a bit of minerals. This is medium full bodied on the palate with excellent concentration and real class. The medium plus length finish features large scaled tannins and a saline note.
November 17, 2022 - Pretty young yet. We will wait another year before touching this one again.
January 26, 2022 - Really enjoyed this wine. Beautiful sent of strawberry and cherry, with some nice warm cinnamon and vanilla. Light bodied and light to medium tannins, this wine is a pleasure to drink.
December 28, 2021 - Very nice wine with rose petal notes.
October 30, 2021 - Great QPR - earth driven wine with pretty fruit and firm tannins that should continue to soften elegantly. This is a great food beverage. Loved the note below about this or Langhe Nebbiolo.
September 9, 2021 - Dark red fruit with an almost sulphury leather character and a bit of evergreen forest. Fairly dense and tannic, shows quite a bit of alcohol heat, but not overextracted. Not very polished, for both better and worse.
A decent choice if you want the structure and basic profile of Barbaresco at a budget price, but you could get a Langhe Nebbiolo for a similar or lower price that would drink better in the short term. This one should be better in five years though it’s never going to be a great wine, more one to casually pair with rich meaty food (eg bolognese or something with heavy dairy and mushroom).
I have three more and I’ll wait at least until 2024 to open another. 6+/10
July 31, 2021 - Opened for three hours, this is tightly knit, yet has a round, supple body. Red cherries, dried raspberries, plum, granite flower shop and orange marmalade. The finish is medium-long, and there’s a fine acidity, with cedar on the palate. Wait a couple of years, then study for another ten. Drink 2023 - 2033.
