December 27, 2021 - After consuming half a dozen bottles, I purchased another case after enjoying it so much. However, I’ve been very disappointed as well as my guests tasting with me in this second case. Very shallow and light without the characteristic oak and tannins that blend for super be nose and taste. Have opened and let breathe for over an hour and still no difference. I’m going to let it age in the bottle for five years before I drink more.

December 5, 2021 - Silver Oak's 2016 Alexander Valley bottling is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Merlot, with the balance comprised of Petit Verdot and Malbec. Tasted at the winery's Alexander Valley facility, it is a deep ruby wine that serves up an aromatic profile of cassis, kirsch, baking spices, eucalyptus and mint. Full-bodied, fresh and with nicely integrated alcohol, it delivers flavors in line with the nose and stays solid on the mid-palate. The fine-grained tannins and American oak are assimilating well at this early stage, making for a wine that is already quite drinkable. Solid on the mid-palate and medium-to-long on the back end, this is a good expression of Silver Oak's Alexander Valley style. Enjoy it throughout the decade. Drink now-2030.

November 19, 2021 - I could smell the vanilla and spice on the nose as soon as this wine was poured into my glass; in time, red and dark fruit also presented on the nose. On the palette, red and dark fruits, more vanilla and spice, and an almost tobacco like quality came through on the finish. I thought this wine was very good. The texture was silky - but could've benefited from more weight.

I know others have said the nose on this wine is astringent - I had the complete opposite experience. My wine was served to me at a wine club, pulled right out of a temperature controlled cellar held at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. No decanting was done.
