December 25, 2019 - Served with prime rib for Christmas dinner. The wine is a bit restrained but not bad. Easy drinking with mild tannins and earthy, leathery tones.
December 21, 2019 - Hoping for French barnyard. More of a tart, fruitless jumble
September 1, 2019 - Did not meet expectations, would not purchase again
April 14, 2019 - Basic Bodeaux, for the price ok wine.
March 1, 2019 - I think it is better than a y $25 wine I have ever tasted.
February 27, 2019 - What you'd expect from a $9 bottle. Plum and Oak flavor with a bit of citrus. Very forgettable. Was better after decanting for a couple hours. Probably won't buy again.
February 18, 2019 - Recognizably Bordeaux. Very high percentage of cabernet (75% cab 25% merlot) a testimony to the great vintage conditions? This is very enjoyable now but can keep for a few years too. Just a touch of oak in the finish. Looks like the producer (Ch. Petit Freylon, near Cadillac southeast of Graves) produces a few cuvees under its own label. Certainly of the several "generic" Kirkland regional bottlings (e.g. Rhone, Rioja, etc.) this is my favorite.
February 6, 2019 - If we were rating this with mid priced Brodeaux it would be a 83. At $8 for a everyday wine or to serve an in law it's easy a 89
February 1, 2019 - Inexpensive Bordeaux, but as previously noted by others, is nothing great or spectacular. Did not get any better over time. I would not buy it again, even at the low price point.
January 27, 2019 - Kind of plain tasting.
