    February 25, 2024 - Giving this a 94+ because it’s below that $100 mark. Bam!

2 hour decant. Great cab at this price point. No formal notes taken, but the structure and fruit were marked. It’s in prime time now, should be for a few more years, I think. Glad to have other bottles.

December 5, 2023 - One hour decant. Blackberry, plum, toffee, rose petals, frankincense, chocolate truffles, and graphite. Dry, dusty, full bodied palate. Firm tannins on the longish finish.

Drinking very well, but a touch too perfumed. Powdery overall quality. Great balance/structure. Decadent in a refined way.

October 8, 2023 - Two hour decant. Very deep dark ruby magenta color. Plum, strawberry jam, stewed blackberry danish, spiced orange tea, milk chocolate, granite, and gardenia. Dry, satiny, full bodied palate. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.

This has great complexity for an “entry level” CS. This is drinking at its peak for my palate. It’s not likely to get better.

July 19, 2023 - I bit of a wild ride with this one. Morlet is a new producer for me. I initially gave this 30 minutes in the decanter before serving with dinner. The initial aromas were of intense blackberries, that followed on the palate and finished with long chalkiness and medium acidity. plush fruits in the front of the mouth followed by drying, firm tannins on the finish - a nice Napa meets Bordeaux hybrid. There was also a fair amount of alcohol so I let the glass sit for two hours and revisited. The fruit had morphed more towards plum, with bakers chocolate, tapenade and licorice, still finishing dry and fine pumice.

The alcohol never completely faded, so I would be inclined to give this bottle a year or two longer. That said, I enjoyed the intense blackberry fruit early on, but this was neither sweet or cloying.

At $90 a bottle, I would seek out more of this

April 28, 2023 - Very dark ink, with aromas of oak, dark fruit, black olive, spice, and tastes of plum, blackberry cobbler, black cherry, licorice, and dark chocolate, with sweet, silky tannins, and a long and lingering finish; this is rich, decadent, and fruit-forward. I did not decant, and it was a little restrained at first, but after a few minutes it opened into a rich, full-bodied expression, with nice fruit and acidity. Very enjoyable!
