October 4, 2020 - Morlet balances Napa Valley fruit with a Bordeaux sense of balance better than almost anyone. This wine exudes such a beautiful aromatic fragrance of black currant preserves, spicy cedar, violets, and graphite. The palate is so well proportioned between the fruits and other elements that echo over and over again on the long finish.

January 12, 2020 - Enjoyed with Clarissa at the house with filet and scallops. Decanted for a couple of hours yet young. Big, exuberant, full, typical To Kalon. Nose of blueberry, cassis, graphite, dried flowers. Nice integration. Big, rich mouth feel and finish. Good acidity. I would love to try in 10 years. Very lovely wine.

April 3, 2019 - What happens when you open a super young vintage cab from a french winemaker known for making long lived wine? Yep, tannins. Tons and tons of tannins. And acid, lots and lots of acid.

The nose on this wine gives a hint of its promise, with lovely rich notes of violets, creme de cassis, black currant, dark cherries, baking spices and freshly tilled soil. The pallet is fresh, incredibly taut, medium to full bodied and wrapped with tannins plus higher than normal levels of acid from this vineyard. Lots super condensed, powerful fruit build like a brick house. This is very pure and the finish outrageously long and persistent - over 1 min...maybe even 2 min. Crazy long. Once this baby starts to unwind it could be epic, but it will need 3-5 years in the cellar at least. 96+
