May 25, 2022 - Still awesome! Same notes as before however fruit notes show more ripeness. Sad this was the last one in the cellar…

November 21, 2021 - The nose is incredible, but it begs for a food pairing. We pick up a nice floral note of lillies along with some mild tannins. Those tannins stand up to fatty foods like confit duck and the floral notes compliment sweets such as strawberry- bourbon sauce. Be careful, though. If you have a strong sweet component, you will enjoy the pairing, but when the sweetness is finished, the remaining wine will taste a little sharp. Just finish the bottle with your food. This is an incredible value.

July 24, 2021 - This wine was quite a bargain, considering its modest $15 price. The aroma (even without decanting) was generous, most prominently showing black raspberry, but also with hints of dried tomato, fig, chocolate, and beef blood.

On the palate, we found all of the above, amidst a mix of red and black fruit, but also hints of licorice, cigar tobacco, oak, and leather. I suspect that, in a blind tasting, this would have fooled a lot of people, lacking only some length to imitate a Burgundy. It was significantly better than the previous bottle of this same wine that we drank a while back...so much so, that I wonder if the preceding bottle might have been slightly flawed.

Addendum: after an hour of airing, the finish lengthens, showing (mostly) black raspberry, along with fine tannins. What a nice wine.

June 6, 2021 - I don't think this was quite up to the previous reviews of this wine, being a bit on the light side to accompany our beef Bourguignon, but it was certainly pleasant, and would be fine by itself as an aperitif.

February 1, 2021 - Solid as in previous notes. Still fresh, so I'd say drink up in the nest 3 years. Alas, it's the last of a solid case for me.

Lardy's bottlings at $14-$20 are a fantastic value. Sip and food friendly and a great reprieve from self-important cabs and their ilk...
