October 1, 2021 - Color: ruby, slight orange tones. Nose: tart red fruit, grass, slightly herbal/fennel, barnyard funk, forest floor. Palate: medium bodied, muted red and black fruit, light red plum notes, earthiness/smokiness, some tartness but fresh, medium acidity, light silky tannins.

July 30, 2021 - Nice bottle, earthy, a little smoky, moderate fruit is a little subdued by tertiary notes, medium acidity, light chalky tannins, still fresh and drinking well. 12.5%, medium body. Very nice deal at $20ish

September 19, 2020 - Pnp, took about an hour to start to open. Medium body, feagrant nose, violet, eucalyptus, drinking well but time to drink up. Bought from klwines

September 9, 2019 - Tasted at home with friends as part of a 6 bottle vertical tasting of Chateau Fontesteau consecutive vintages from 2001 back to 1996. Opened 20 minutes before tasting and double decanted. Hint of ageing in the colour, slight browning. Good fruit on the nose, orange peel. Good fruit, light start, becoming richer. Quite long.

February 17, 2019 - A year since my last note on this wine , and if anything it is even more satisfyingly mature and smooth. On the palate , the mouthfeel is rich and full, whilst retaining a refreshing and chewy acidity. The tertiary flavours of dried fruits, and chocolate , mastic and leather, along with tantalising hints of sweet cherries and strawberries. A classic Haut Medoc , deliciously mature , and a fantastic qpr , when purchased a year ago.
