May 24, 2024 - PnP. Great as always, really perfumed nose of violets, olive tapenade, herbs, touch of game, similar notes on palate with blackberries, and fresh acidity. Whether you like it or not, this wine does not leave you indifferent.
May 11, 2024 - There is nothing I can add to my previous notes. This is very open, and bloody delicious. I'm wondering which way this will go; the wine definitely has the stuffing to age for much longer.
April 28, 2024 - Another bottle of 2018, and it is again so open. Very generous in its black fruit, olives, flowers. Smooth and velvety texture, less tannins than I would have expected based on previous bottles I've tried. A wine that always impresses, and there is no shame in drinking this now.
April 9, 2024 - Remarquable !
93-94?
March 31, 2024 - Toujours aussi bon, enivrant
March 29, 2024 - Super beau gonon, tres mauve...
March 24, 2024 - Aromatically already beautifully open with a gorgeous nose filled with dark fruit, olives and bay laurel. Velvety smooth tannin structure as is to be expected of a 2018. What surprised me was the acidity in this wine, for such a hot vintage it's super fresh! Already really nice, but there's more potential.
February 27, 2024 - This was a (surprisingly) open bottle, very generous in its black fruit, olives, flowers. Smooth and velvety texture, less tannins than I would have expected based on previous bottles I've tried. A wine that always impresses, and there is no shame in drinking this now.
January 20, 2024 - Very dark red, aromas of bacon, pepper, blackberries and a hint of oak; on the palate beautiful blackberries, deep balanced wine, medium long. On day two bacon is still wafting from the glass along with a slightly more structured palate, still brooding with blackberries.
Tasted alongside André Perret, St. Joseph, Les Grisieres 2019 that was marginally more impressive, having velvety soft fruit much along what the Gonon St. Jo has to offer, and then some.
January 13, 2024 - Northern Rhone night: Very elegant despite still being recognisably Syrah with bacon, meaty notes. An easy-going, approachable vintage for Gonon. Most preferred this to the Balthazar alongside.
