February 3, 2023 - Amazing wine - needed air but evolves into a wonderful bouquet of red berries and black berries

Still has more time if stored well

December 19, 2020 - Beautifully mature nose displaying ripe but pure red and black fruit, blackberry, strawberry jam, lavender, strong tobacco, garrigue, leather, nutmeg, cinnamon and earth. Beautifully integrated palate, nicely layered sweet black fruit, silky and polished, medium acidity and strong earthy mineral, still noticeable very fine tannins and a long sweet red and black fruit driven finish with strong tobacco at the end. Beautifully balanced and surprisingly elegant, the strong tobacco note reminds me the Beaucastel a bit. Really nice showing.

January 16, 2019 - High End Châteauneuf-du-Pape Dinner (Steak and Vine - La Grange IL): Tasted single blind in flight. Clearly past its peak. The vintage? Or a bad/ tired bottle? I correctly identified all 6 wines in this flight, which shocked nobody more than it surprised me. I only correctly identified this as the "outlier" because I thought the other 5 were either Pignan or Bonneau.

December 19, 2018 - Amazing wine with great depth of black fruits and a bit of sweet red fruit - incredibly well integrated and smooth; very different than alot of other 98s I’ve had that feel over cooked. Alcohol was not overpowering at all

December 18, 2016 - Fully mature but with lots of structure and ripe fruit. Extremely good length and balance, large but not heavy.
