October 30, 2023 - gold colored pour. matchstick on the nose, clears to give some spritzy lime, apple, and limestone aromas. medium bodied with fresh, sharp acidity. more zesty lemon lime cut made almost sweet by the high acidity. a nice salty baseline and briskly mineral. clean finish. chardonnay with the soul of a riesling.

January 6, 2023 - Performing better than my previous experiece. It has a strong 'natural' focus and the flavors remind me of an orange wine. It has a very intense citrus-like acidity and also displaying some candied orange. A quite impressive mineral aspect adds to its complexity.

January 8, 2022 - Nose dominated by nuts, toffee nougat, but also red apples and lemon.
Intense taste, with a very high acidity (liquid šŸ‹ ), creamy, texture, nutty, toffee, red apples.
Can still be kept in the cellar for many years but drinks well already know šŸ˜Š

August 4, 2021 - I had forget I had drunk this vintage before, but I think this bottle has come even more in to its own - it is now actually fresher and leaner compared to how I describw the wine below. Lemon, red apple, tangerine, fennel seed and orange flower, with whippets cream and almond shavings on top. Absolutely delicious! At times, this Labet entry level bottling can seem like my favourite.

Bien bon!

July 26, 2020 - Creamy texture with lemon and hazelnuts. A great match to a butter fried perch a combination that rates the wine to 92-93 šŸ˜‹.

July 19, 2020 - Cork showed some leakage. While this was still fascinating, I can't/won't weigh in on this one -- my first bottle of this from this vintage, so I can't be 100% sure, but based on notes and past bottles/vintages, I believe it's showing lots and lots of unintentional oxidation, over and above any oxidative/Jurassic bits. Not undrinkable, but this is far from a peak Labet experience.

April 12, 2020 - Quarantine; 3/12/2020-5/29/2020 (Chicago, IL): Vines planted from 1975 to 2007; terroir of marl, blue clay from the Lias epoch; matured for 17 months in 228L oak barrels; pH 3.12; free SO2 < 6 mg/L; total 18 mg/L; volatile acidity 0.42 g/L; total acidity 5.2 g/L. Absolutely brilliant stuff for the price. The nose starts off with just a hint of a reductive stink but that dissipates fairly quickly, leaving you with a very obviously mineral-driven high acid chardonnay that drinks like a Chablis ought to. The bright citrus and salinity here are just amazing here. Crisp, clean, and laser-focussed, for the price, this has got to be one of the best chardonnays for the price.
