July 28, 2020 - I got myself a copy of the Native Wine Grapes of Italy book by Ian D'Agata, highly recommended by some of the fellow CT members here. Looking up the Grechetto entry, since that is the variety for 100% in this Poggio Della Costa, I find this is one of the Grechetto wines worth a try. Quite a complicated issue, so it seems, what is actually this variety.
Anyway, I find plenty of orchard fruit and mineral flavours in this wine. The mouth feel is truly soft and smooth, without the often accompanying honey sweetness. Beautiful balance and good complexity contribute to the quality. Fruity acidity, tending towards slightly unripe yellow apple and lime are well integrated and intensify the finish, which also does hide a slightly bitter touch.
Indeed worth a try!
