  March 5, 2024 - Jason & Simon's Village Burgundy Tasting Dinner (67 Pall Mall): There's a tautness here, the acidity is just a little shrill and unintegrated. Perfectly decent stuff and was pleased to have it but didn't show well on the night. Interestingly, my perceptions of this flight were very out of line with tablemates - so much so I asked for a sniff of a glass to make sure I hadn't got them mixed up. Anyway - a chacun son gôut...

  March 4, 2024 - Village Burgundy from Good Producers (67 Pall M): Rich, deeply red fruited and slightly smoky Nuits. Some cranberry coulis, under ripe strawberries and some black pepper. Improves with air.

  March 4, 2024 - Jason's Village Burgundies II (67 Pall Mall): Dark red. Can you say a nose is chewy? There is a rusticity here that I am not expecting due to the house style, but I suppose it allows the character of the appellation to make itself known. This needs more age for the former to dominate the latter, so I suppose what you want is key to when you approach this. One of my fellow diners said spend the extra money on the 1er Cru and, given what I know I want, I think I agree. Not that this a bad wine, far from it, but there isn't much silken charm going on.

  March 4, 2024 - Village Burgundy: Mid to full ruby. Lovely meaty Nuits nose. Mellow, meaty, nicely fresh. A hint of caramel. Some interest here. Does what it says on the label. Convincingly. ****

  January 5, 2024 - Appearance: deep ruby core with red hues, lots of legs, medium bodied structure. Semi translucent colour, quite alluring to look at
  Nose: perfumed aromas of red fruits - strawberries, red berries, raspberries, some orange rind. Complex and layered nose
  Palate: immediate presence of red fruits: strawberries, raspberries. Also notable savoury flavours forming backbone of the wine: some graphite, game and earthy forest floor that adds real complexity to the texture and flavour. Lots of minerality and tannins are abundant which leaves a long, flavoursome finish.
  
  Quite a bold and daring Pinot that speaks of exuberance, ostentatioon. Perhaps not my preference which is something that exhibits more subtlety and refined elegance...nevertheless a classic Burgundian Pinot Noir
